NSR takes over the air waves in Bristol with “The Voice”

A small team from Nailsea School Radio have been taking to the air waves in Bristol over the past few weeks broadcasting a show on Bristol’s BCfm. Edd Burrell, station manager for NSR (Year 13) approached the management at BCfm and was awarded a 6 week slot on the station. He was tasked to create a teen debate show and quickly formed a team of other students who work for Nailsea School Radio to help join him on the show. Matt East & Graeme Franklin (Year 13) along with Josh Wakley & Jack Barry (Year 11) were chosen to co-present alongside Edd, and Seth Atkinson (Year 10) joined as a Studio Assistant on the teams show “The Voice”. The show aired for 6 weeks on Mondays 4-5PM throughout October and November with topics ranging from “Is Big Brother really watching us”, “Creativity and Culture” right through to “Halloween and Guyfawkes”.

Edd Burrell said “It was an amazing opportunity for myself and the team. It was great to not only create a show for an FM station but to also try out new styles of show to a whole new audience”. Matt adds “The challenge of coming up with a new topic every week and keeping it fresh whilst on air is something I had never done before. I would recommend it to anyone who’s thinking of doing it!”

You can listen to the shows on the NSR website until Mid-January, simply head to www.nsradio.co.uk where you can find these and details on what else Nailsea School Radio is getting up to.
